Hey, everyone out there in Internet Land. 🙂
Things didn’t go according to plan this month, but that’s okay. I’m used to that by now. 😋 One goal I did meet was the most important one, and that was getting Intertwined (Tangled Moon Book Two) up for kindle preorder and the paperback edition ready for a June 13th release. 🖤Link Below🖤
Yay!
My first book event for the summer went completely haywire. It’s a story in itself, wanna hear it?
Here it goes… So, the shop I was going to do my reading at has a very supportive owner. Great, right? Well, she hired these two ladies to take care of all the promotional work so she could focus on other things. I was led to believe I didn’t have to worry about anything, that they had their own ways and would take care of the promotion.
Yes, I know, I can be naive sometimes, like I just fell off the turnip truck naive. 🤪
What happened? You probably guessed it. These ladies completely dropped the ball and no one save my two closest friends even knew about the reading (and one of those friends got called into work at the last minute and couldn’t be there). Can you guess what happened next? Yup. One person came to my reading, my diehard buddy. And the owner, she was there, bless her heart. She found out what had happened and was mad. Like MAD, mad. She assured me that what happened was unacceptable and the ladies would be getting in a heap of trouble.
My buddy and I chose to make the best out of it. We served as door greeters that afternoon, told everyone we were doing a special, meet a local author event, and passed out my business cards and pens to people as they walked in.
The owner, who was inside at the register later told us that her customers were really excited about such a novel event. LOL. I guess it worked out in its own strange way.
My second book event was cancelled after the library director had surgery and informed me that she just couldn’t juggle my event. Ah, well, that’s okay. I’m still planning on attending a book fest in July, where I’ll have a table to myself for the entire day.
Last month I told you about the recording booth my husband was building for me. It’s still happening but VERY slowly. We’ve been plagued by a car that won’t work consistently and maintenance on our two hundred year old house. Someday, it’ll get finished. (The house and the booth both.)
This next month I plan to focus on the edits for A Worthy Opponent (Book two, Worth Fighting For), to finish the first draft for Venus Rising (Worth Fighting For, Book Three), and to continue making cute (if dark) videos for Instagram like this one:
That’s what I have for you this month, so I’ll bid you Adieu (although I’ve no idea why since I don’t speak French). 🤪
Love, Darcy
