Hmm… It’s still morning as I write this but I can say that a few things are out of the ordinary because my life has been changing. Call it the ‘new normal’. We love those words, don’t we? π
My five foot one daughter is away at basic training right now. π© NOT normal. I come from a military family and she’s the first female to enlist. NOT normal.
Sheβs kicking a** there, of course, as she always does. So totally normal. She did the gas chamber last week (some of you probably know what that is). The drill sergeant told them that anyone that could take off their mask and take a breath could leave. She was the first one to whip it off. There were six foot plus guys there still hesitating after two minutes.
Normal for her.
My husband has been working half from home half at site for over a year now. Normal. This morning he had to switch it so he’s at work right now and will be home this afternoon. Not normal.
I’ve realized that if my daughter can kick butt through basic training this summer then I can face my publishing fears and start publishing my books. Not normal; more like the new normal. We are both being brave together even if weβre right now on separate sides of the country. Also not normal.
So itβs a mix and match kind of day. Really more like a mix and match summer.
