Deduction – A Regency Romance:

…โ€œUp you go,โ€ he said. His voice had lost that deeper tenor. The gentleness surprised her. She instinctively looked at him, forgetting her feet for the moment. She nearly lost her balance in her new shoes but his other hand caught her waist so she could climb safely up into the carriage. She took her seat next to her mother, keeping her head down and hoping no one said anything.

Liam signaled to the driver then hopped in next to Becca and the carriage rumbled away. Molly pretended to look out the window while stealing glances at his long, lean body across from her, one knee just a mere rut in the road away from nudging into hers. The carriage ride wasnโ€™t nearly long enough, and sadly she counted only three ruts.
