
Deduction – A Regency Romance:
“I…” Molly cleared her throat, “will just look for something to read out there. But not Comprehensive Anatomy.” She took a step back. “No, not that.”
Not watching where she was going she tripped over a book, reeling into a shelf filled with jars. Something that looked suspiciously like a human finger flashed past her line of sight a moment before she hit the floor rump first.
The jar crashed to the floor after her, glass shattering. The finger. No, a thumb, rolled under the table and something wet splashed her skirt.
Molly’s breath caught in her throat. She couldn’t breathe through the fumes.
“I think she might faint,” Liam said in the same tone one might when stating that the rain had just started up again. His face appeared before her as he knelt, aqua eyes searching. A dark curl fell forward to caress his brow and drew her attention more than was reasonable. Her vision narrowed around it…
