Deduction – A Regency Romance:
…Molly hesitated to follow. She was intrigued, but felt like an intruder into this unconventional man’s private space. In the end, her curiosity got the best of her. Taking a breath, she stepped through.
Liam was sitting at a long table looking into a microscope. The table was covered with all manner of glass vials and beakers, like something out of Mary Shelley’s, Frankenstein. Guarding one corner, serving as a paperweight, was the human skull Becca had spoken of; yellowed with age. A window was open but the air inside tainted with the smell of antiseptics and formaldehyde.
Molly swallowed, curiosity tempered now by the sheer strangeness of it all.
“As you can imagine, he doesn’t have a lot of females here,” Becca said.
Liam finally looked up from the microscope. “Bloody, Becca. Really?”
