How do you balance work and home life?

Daily writing prompt
How do you balance work and home life?

Easily. It’s actually really easy for me but it wasn’t always that way.

The picture below was me two years ago. Notice a difference? I do. I’m angrier, frustrated, had a permanent headache, and I look like I’ve aged in reverse over the last few years.

I got tired of comparing myself to others, judging myself by too high a standard, and running to stand still.

One day I just snapped. And now things are a lot better. I’m not rich. I’m not famous. Tangled Moon isn’t going to be made into a movie franchise. (Sorry Danielle and Lothar; it’s just better this way.)

Life out there in the fast lane just isn’t worth it. It’ll suck the life right out of you. 🖤

  3. billionaires, none of them are happy. because when Forbes ranks them, and they’re not # 1, that’s, like, a big deal to them. I can’t think of a dumber more useless way to live than to worry about things like this, and to compromise so many things like your family and devotion to good causes and making art, just to have the biggest G-whatever on the street. (which, in my neighborhood, would be striped for parts in seconds. poof, gone.)

  4. Absolutely correct, wise woman. It takes courage to live our own lives, step to a different drummer. So worth it! You are rich beyond measure. I’m grateful you share your writing and wisdom with the rest of us.

  8. I agree 💯. Two things did it for me: closing my Facebook account and retirement. The first one killed all the comparisons and feelings of competition. The second one brought me peace. I’m not rich (I don’t want to be one; there’s too much pain associated with that), but I’m happy.

  9. Well said. I can ‘second’ those views. We spend so much of our time trying to develop this perfect life balance utopia, but nothing is ever consistent cause that’s life, and sometimes we get curveballs thrown at us for no reason. I spent many years trying to ‘make a name’ for myself and all I did in the end was cause myself unnecessary stress, plus anything I attempted was a waste of my time, cause that type of lifestyle was not meant for me. We get so easily swayed and influenced by social media, superficial people etc, which in turn leads us to a false perception of how our lives should be. So well done you for finding some solace in life.

Facebook sucks. Does anyone tell the truth on there? I still have an account but I haven’t touched it in a long time. Glad to hear you’re happy.
