“Vampire,” he finished for her quietly. His words seemed to hang in the air around him, kind of like his scent.
“They’re real. Last night was real.”

She took another step back, ran into a side table and then felt her way around it. “This can’t be happening. Things like this don’t happen.”
She bumped into something else and reached out to catch herself, found his arm there steadying her. She hadn’t even seen him move. She tried to pull free but he wasn’t cooperating. Instead, he moved again; both arms held her as if she were completely incapable of standing without them.
“Let me go,” she said, arching up to look into painfully blue eyes.
“Every time I do you fall, so where is the incentive in that?” Subtly, those arms drew her closer until she was touching him from thighs to breasts.
