What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I wish that I could say my day started out with a quiet cup of coffee, and some self-reflection with a journal and a deck of tarot cards.

But it dosen’t.

I still have two kids at home, they’re almost eighteen but they’re twin girls and my life can still be a bit chaotic. I usually hit the ground running. Coffee started, feed the cats (somehow I thought it was a good idea to adopt four of them 🤭), make sure my daughters aren’t having any last minute melt-downs, work out (I lift weights). Eventually I do get to sit down, usually with some herbal tea and I get out the journal and the cards but that doesn’t happen until things quiet down in the afternoon.

That first hour of the day goes by quickly!

  1. Oh, turning eighteen, a magical time,
Filled with excitement, rhythm, and rhyme.
No more curfews, no more parental reign,
Freedom’s sweet song, like a joyous refrain.

No more respect for your parents… treat mom like she’s disposable… wait, did I type that out loud?! 🤪

  3. There’s nothing in this world I care about more than making my parents, especially my mom, smile. The older I get, the more I realize how rare her genuine smiles have become, and it hits me hard. Life has a way of adding weight to our shoulders, including hers. If there’s anything I can do, any achievement I can earn, or any way I can be, just to see that pure, heartfelt smile on her face again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Those moments of joy are priceless, and I’d give anything to ensure they’re not just memories but a part of our everyday lives.

You’re in India? Where I am… our culture is falling apart. It’s survival of the fittest here. Bless you though, you must be a joy to your mother.

  5. My routine is much the same. Usually I am scrambling to get some progress done on a project, whether it’s work, grad school, or writing. Something always doesn’t get done. Ugh!
