
Deduction – A Regency Romance:
…“What are you doing?” Becca asked.
He smiled over his shoulder, his mood abruptly shifting. Suddenly he looked like a little boy in a sweet shop. He pulled out a set of picks and began working the lock.
“You failed to tell me your brother was a locksmith,” Molly said, all the while knowing very well he wasn’t.
Becca elbowed her. “He is an Investigator. When he picks a lock, it is in the line of duty.”
“Investigator? What did you say his name was?”
He looked up as the door clicked open. “Liam Daltrey,” he said, moving aside and gesturing them in.
Where did she know that name from? “Not the amateur mentioned in the paper?” Molly asked, closing the umbrella and following Becca inside.
“Amateur,” he muttered, shutting the door behind them. “I really need to have a talk with the editor.”
“Never call him an amateur,” Becca warned. “It puts him into a fit.”…
