What’s the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make?

Daily writing prompt
What’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? Why?

I’m not sure if this is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make but it’s a reoccurring one.

I have to choose daily whether to dedicate my life to my writing, or to have a life. It would seem that the choice would be obvious, right? Create a balance. Dedicate a certain number of hours per day to blogging, doing recordings, editing recordings, writing new material, editing new material—and then be done with it.

Unfortunately I’m surrounded by people who seem to think it’s perfectly normal to work twelve to fourteen hours a day, and I keep slipping back into their habits. I’m pretty sure that twelve to fourteen hours makes them workaholics.

Do I need to be one too just because they are?

Over working will ruin my ability to create quality content. I can’t expect my brain to go at that level non-stop. Eventually it’ll shut off and I’ll lose my creativity. In a past paced society where if you snooze you lose, it’s easy to miss the point of life altogether.

I should be writing because I love it; for the thrill of the story, to feel my characters deep within. Not to keep up with everyone else or to get somewhere, wherever somewhere is supposed to be anyway.

  7. I’m standing at my door, contemplating going out in the pouring rain. It’s a serious dilemma – the potential of getting wet versus the allure of a spontaneous adventure. It’s like a mental tug-of-war – should I brave the downpour, risk getting wet, and potentially catch a cold, or stay cozy indoors?

  8. SO,

As I stand at the threshold, raindrops cascading in a rhythmic dance outside, I find myself caught in the paradox of love for rain and the risk it entails. Life, it seems, mirrors this delicate balance – a constant negotiation between pursuing what we love and navigating the potential risks that come with it.

Rain, with its soothing melody and the earthy scent it imparts, has always been a source of joy for me. Yet, the decision to step into its embrace is not without its complexities. The dichotomy arises as I weigh the sheer pleasure of rain against the practical concern of falling ill. It’s a microcosm of life’s larger conundrum – the pursuit of passion amidst the ever-present specter of risk.

Life, much like rain, demands a dance with uncertainty. It’s a realization that if we want to indulge in the things we love, risks become inevitable companions on this journey. It’s the acknowledgment that every step towards our passions might be accompanied by raindrops of uncertainty, challenging us to navigate the fine line between pleasure and precaution.

As I contemplate this intricate interplay, I recognize that the essence of living lies in embracing the risks inherent in our pursuits. Whether it’s venturing into the rain or chasing our dreams, the potential for setbacks is always there. Yet, it’s precisely this vulnerability that adds depth to our experiences, coloring the canvas of our lives with hues of resilience and determination.

The metaphor extends beyond rain-soaked afternoons. It speaks to the broader tapestry of our desires, ambitions, and the inevitable hurdles we encounter. Life unfolds as a series of calculated risks, where the pursuit of happiness often demands stepping out of our comfort zones.

So, here I am, standing at the crossroads of desire and caution, contemplating whether to embrace the rain or seek refuge indoors. The decision, reflective of life’s intricacies, prompts a broader reflection on the risks we willingly undertake for the sake of our passions.

In this intricate dance with raindrops and decisions, I find solace in the realization that, sometimes, the most profound joys are on the other side of uncertainty. Life’s risks, much like rain, hold the promise of unexpected beauty, reminding us that the pursuit of what we love is a journey worth taking, even if it means getting a little wet along the way.

I’m at my early 20’s. People around me also wants me to be a workaholic zombie. For them, either it’s success or death. I choose life.
Glad to see someone like me here.

  13. Interestingly, I’ve noticed that I don’t always remember what I write either. It’s like the act of expressing thoughts becomes a stream of consciousness. When I read something that resonates, it triggers a cascade of reflections on my own life . It’s a fascinating journey of self-discovery.
Thank you so much! Sometimes inspiration strikes in the most unexpected moments, much like deciding whether to step into the rain. Life’s dilemmas, big or small, seem to weave their own stories. Your blog got me thinking, and the words just flowed. 😊✨

It’s corny to say that you’ve got to love what you do, but it’s true.

  19. So true. Blogging has reinvigorated my writing, but it’s easy to overdo it. It’s always important to remember that you can’t write about anything if you don’t go out and get some life experiences along the way, and if the fire’s not there then it’s okay to do something else for a while.
