Forget that, I’m going with a list, and it’ll be pretty obvious why I’d like to meet them once I’ve made it.

Big surprise they’re all authors. My favorite book is Jane Eyre. I love that it’s a romance with Gothic elements. Dracula is the same, only written by a man so I like getting that perspective too. Shakespeare of course has everything, from comedy to romance, tragedy, horror…

If only there were a coffee shop in the 19th century where you could gather with Jane, Charlotte, Emily, Poe, Shakespeare, and Stoker for some bookish banter and caffeinated creativity. Imagine the plot twists and poetic puns! ☕📚

    Jane: “I insist, love should conquer all in our novels!”

    Shakespeare: “Ah, but what’s a tale without a tragic twist, my dear Jane? Comedy and tragedy are like ink and quills – inseparable!”

    Charlotte: “Well, Mr. Shakespeare, at least we don’t need ghosts in every story to keep things interesting.”

    Poe: “Ghosts add that certain ‘je ne sais quoi,’ Charlotte. A raven on the shoulder wouldn’t hurt either.”

    Emily: “Enough with the ravens! Wuthering Heights had its share of tumultuous love without them.”

    Stoker: “Speaking of love, can we all agree that Dracula brought a certain flair to the romantic undead?”

    Shakespeare: “To bite or not to bite, that is the question!”

    Jane: “Let’s just keep it civil, like a well-mannered tea party, even if it involves a few brooding heroes and haunted mansions.”

    They all nod, raising imaginary teacups, while Poe tries to sneak in a raven-shaped sugar cookie unnoticed. 📜🎭

    Prince Eugene of Savoy. I studied him bc of his military significance, but he was arguably influential in bringing Dracula to western culture some studies pertinent;

    Ida B. Wells. She stood strong against the KKK during a time when as a woman and as a black woman at that, speaking up was frowned on and many suffragettes themselves made her life difficult. She had to go to Europe to find allies and establish support here in America. She is definitely someone I look up to. She stood for black women and men in one of the most dangerous times to try to do so. And she had success. She was tenacious and even stood up to those activists around her who she saw getting comfortable in their pay offs rather than standing for the black community.

    Amaury de Riencourt, I read his ‘The Eye of Shiva – Eastern Mysticism and Science’ when I was 12. When living and working in Rome, I reread it again in the beginning of 2005. I wanted to meet him in Switzerland after reading the book again. Unfortunately I found out he passed away in January 2005.

    Jane Eyre is my niece’s favorite book. She has quite a few copies and the bronte sisters set. Yes I wanted to answer this question but I couldn’t choose just one so here goes. I would like to be a musician, Harriet Tubman, Beatrix Potter and not sure who else.

    Beethoven. He was a really good piano player and i would love to take lessons from him. I play piano, and I think I’m pretty good, (not to brag) but I would love if I could get better, and Beethoven would be a perfect teacher. (The teacher ihave now is really good too though, shes the best 🙂 )

    This is so interesting to me. I feel like I already know a couple of those authors so well from the research I’ve done on their lives. A descendant of Stoker goes on tour throughout the US doing lectures on his great grandfather’s life (or is it great, great grandfather? I don’t remember.) He talks about letters and personal documents that indicate the story of how Dracula came to be. It’s fascinating stuff. It’s not the same as meeting the person, but I feel like getting to know them through personal letters and things documented about them by the people that loved them helps paint a beautiful portrait of the real person. I’ve kind of gotten that with Jane Austen. It’s totally worth the research.
