Wild Cat

Worth Fighting For

England, 1192

…She and Peter went into the woods and she realized that he was taking her back to their camp.

“Let go,” she said but he wasn’t having it.

“I’m taking you back.”

“No, your not.”

“Yes, I am.” He sheathed his sword and turned. The next thing she knew she’d been disarmed of both of her knives and he had heaved her over his shoulder.

“What’s wrong with the two of you,” she seethed, fighting him. Peter had a hold of her that wasn’t going to budge regardless of how hard she squirmed. “Did your father manhandle your mother?”

“He never had to. She was a lady.”

Alana snorted. “Sure, she was.”

“John was right,” Peter said as he continued on with her. “It is easier when the woman isn’t yours. You can be as mad at me as you like, Alana. I don’t have to deal with it later.”

“Oh, that’s just wonderful.”

He carried her like that all of the way and then deposited her to her feet before Zipporah. “Your wildcat, my lady,” he told her. “Safely returned to you as promised.”

Alana glared at the both of them.

“I was worried about you, so I asked him to pull you out of there if there was any trouble.”

“Zipporah, you shouldn’t have.”…
