My Favorite Subject in School

Daily writing prompt
What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school was art. My school had a huge art department and an amazing studio. I spent most of my high school years in the art room. I even had the chance to take a photography class where I developed film. (I’m aging myself here!)

Best of all was the staff. Mr. Loomis was the teacher I had the most. Almost all of my art classes were with him—poor man. LOL. One day I was really struggling and he took me aside, not to lecture me or to demand more, but to tell me that he saw real talent in me, that he believed in me, and that I should believe in myself too.

I’ve never forgotten that day.

To Mr. Loomis, and all of the other teachers out there, I hope you know how valuable you are. You make the future happen.

Announcement: 😣Subscription service coming as soon as I can get Stripe to work with me. 🤪I spent an hour at my bank; the staff were sooooo helpful and kind to me, but still no go. Now it’s off to find more help out in digital world. Maybe a bot will take pity on me.

  3. Isn’t it interesting how Mr. Loomis’s name almost perfectly aligns with his subject? 😄 (Apologies, my ASD tendencies are showing)

It’s truly amazing when we connect so deeply with our instructors that they embody the essence of the class we’re taking, don’t you think? If only teachers fully understood the profound impact they have on the world…

Your post is absolutely splendid! Thank you for sharing it!

I agree, and teachers aren’t given nearly enough credit. 😊

Cool. I never got to take home economics. My school canceled it the year before I went into high school. I would’ve liked to though.

  11. Itx about all these people who were on a flight and they fell asleep and when it landed all the people who weren’t asleep disappeared. Well they get out and look around the airport weird things happen and this Mr Loomis was kinda the psycho. I won’t spoil if for anyone who wants to read it or watch the movie but if you like atypical horror with a little scifi thrown in the langoliers is a brilliant book and movie to watch

  24. I mostly learned how to use the potters wheel and throw a bowl as they say I think. I made an awesome coffee cup shaped like lips around the lip and the tongue was the handle to the cup

  47. Loomis huh.. I also knew a Loomis. And they had an observatory built in their name. Haha. Oh how I miss my artsy self. I used to love drawing and painting and all that stuff.. but my hands have slight tremors and it makes drawing a little hard and cramps my hands nowadays.. I’m only 32 but my gosh do I feel like I’m 102 sometimes.
