…John came closer, speaking under his breath into her face. “Do you want me to have you over my desk, or would you rather wait for a better time?”
Heat flooded Alana’s face. “Your…” She brushed her tail of hair back. He looked so tense about it. What was wrong with him? “Is it that bad?”
He nodded stiffly.
They both stood there for a moment.
“Then you, I mean you really do want me that much?” she asked.
He eyed her as if to say, try me.
“Oh, my God,” she breathed. “Do you think, that is, I know it’s impossible to know, but do you think you want me as much as I want you?”
“Undoubtedly,” he murmured. “I wanted you when I first saw you. I mean, after you were grown,” he added.
She nodded. “At the wedding?”
“The moment I saw you grown,” he confessed.
Zipporah had been right. He had wanted her. How that could happen? That the one man she wanted to bed would want her just as much as she did him was beyond her. It was more than she could have dreamed of…
